I wanted to make sure I answered a few questions that appeared in the comments, regarding the wedding post from yesterday.
A few people had a hard time finding the mistake on the wedding gift. As well you should have because I didn't show the mistake. It was on the back. Overall it turned out great. I painted the couple's new last name on a blank metal sign I had bought at Hobby Lobby. (FYI ... a DIY will appear on Thursday, as part of Kimba's DIY Party which you can join if you like.)
I was very pleased with the results ... EXCEPT ... when I was done and turned it over to write something on the back, I realized I had done it upside down. The built-in hooks to hang the piece were on the bottom of the frame instead of the top.
My bad.
I had a jolly good laugh over it.
Then I got down to business, trying to figure out how to solve the problem.
I put 2 new hanger thingys on the new "top". And I wrote on the back, a clever message about how uniquely the artist intended for the piece to be hung right-side-up OR upside-down. Ha!
Problem solved. And I forgot to take pictures.
Cheri asked about the background on the stage for the wedding.
It is our church. Our set changes with each series and the series we have going now has several large sails in the back, which they light with different colors as they are led. Plus there is some sort of corrugated metal that looks rather like a huge setting sun. Especially when it appears orange. We have what they call "smart lights" which they also use in concerts. Our tech crew does an amazing job of creating a unique lighting experience with what they have on stage.
The scaffolding actually holds 2 large flatscreens which are used as some background during the services. Those were removed for the wedding.
Those big columns are totally styrafoam. They use them for weddings.
And there is a drum set up on a platform immediately behind the pastor at the wedding. That cannot be moved for a ceremony, so instead they covered it with lots and lots of plants. No one could tell there was a drum set back there. Nor do I think anyone noticed the camera on a tripod, and the cameraman hiding behind it, dressed all in black.
Can you seen him back there in silhouette? And did I spell silhouette correctly. Spell check thinks so but it sure looks weird to me.
Here he is before the ceremony.
We are nothing if not sneaky in our church. And this particular wedding was streamed live over the internet, complete with a full tech crew and 3 cameras, a lighting director and sound men. It's a perk of being a pastor's daughter I guess.
To answer another question ... I was not in the front row. I was about 5 rows back on the aisle. I spent 4 hours Friday online, googling and reading and playing with my camera, which is 4 years old and has never been pressed to do anything but point and shoot. I knew there were manual settings in there but I had never experimented. I also knew that every other wedding I went to resulted in horrible, blurry, dark, nearly black and never acceptable photos.
I was smart enough to know my camera could do better. But dumb enough not to know how to make that happen. So I studied up on it and took about 400 pictures on Friday practicing. And my pictures turned out pretty well. A dark church with moving subjects is a hard setting.
So there you go. I always have a hard time answering questions from the comments. I wonder how to do that. Do I answer right there in the comments? Do I go to the commenter's blog and answer in her comments? What to do ... what to do?
I hope y'all had a great 4th of July. Ours was very quiet. We made an movie run to rent "The Secret Life of Bees" and stopped by the Publix for some cookie dough ice cream to go with it. Relaxing.
Now, back to Breakfast at Wimbeldon. Pass the strawberries and cream.

5 friends:
Yes, silhouette is spelled correctly and I only know that because I sell that brand of glasses every day I work.
Love the wedding gift and the personalized touch you added, LOL, very clever.
I have no clue how to do anything with my camera and I freek out if I move the setting by accident. I'm impressed with your work. Of course having two pros in the family leaves me totally off the hook.
What's up with the highlighted random words on blogger? I noticed it on my site yesterday and now on yours?
I had to laugh about the hanging hooks being at the bottom. I always do that when addressing an envelope. I forget to check the back flap.
I like my point and click camera, and I'm sure there's more I could do, but I have two photographers in my family, so I figure why bother? ;o)
Your pictures are very impressive.
Have a great week.
Thanks for the answers, Becky!
I don't think there is a 'proper' way to respond to questions in your blog. But you did a great job and got a whole post out of it. Win, win.
I usually address questions in my comment section, but I have no idea if that is correct. Some of my readers don't have blogs, so I can't answer them in their blogs.
Yes, silhouette. French word and I almost always have to look it up, so I rarely try to use it. :)
THATS SOMETHING I WOULD DO!!!!!
LOL!!
I think maybe I will make something like that for Chloe & Josiah.
But now I know to make sure to check the back. :)
What a lovely wedding you went to...she looks so happy. As she should. ;)
And look at that puppy! He is a cutie. I know you are having fun with him.
